Program Overview

The curriculum is especially designed to give an insight into oneself and other people’s behavior so that there can be improvement in the quality of life and importantly to develop coping skills for home/professional environment, to contribute more effectively within the social spectrum of society in reducing ethnicity, prejudice and sectarianism and to help develop positivity, tolerance and create a better understanding of human behavior.

The Applied psychology course is geared towards enhancing awareness, motivation, efficiency and greater professionalism.



Computer Sciences & Business

Program Overview

(A postgraduate program) Academic institutions today are faced with the responsibility of training the young generation for a future that will offer them job opportunities and career advancement. Women who have been kept on the periphery represent a unique resource and expertise available for construction of modern social structures. Although there are no legal barriers for women to enter any type of training, their options are limited. Type level of training there a woman receives has a direct bearing on access to employment.

The Graduation program in Computer Science and Business is a four-year intensive program with an undergraduate and a preparatory course in Business.

The Computer Science concentration prepares students either for a master’s study or for Computer-intensive professional careers. The Business Administration minor concentration prepares students for Business careers in which Computer Science overlaps significantly with Business Administration.



Economics

Program Overview

The basic objective is to build thorough understanding of the subject of economics and to familiarize the students with its working knowledge. It blends economics theory with quantitative and statistical techniques to equip the students with a sound understanding of economic analysis. The courses are designed to promote economic literacy and to prepare the students for dealing with the economic issues, which the world is facing today.

In addition to taking formal courses in economics, students will be involved in activities designed to develop their research skills. In the final semester they will be required to submit a research report on any area of interest. They will also be encouraged to complete at least one internship providing practical experience which supplements academic learning. This will help in developing specialized skills necessary for rewarding careers.



Environmental Sciences

Program Overview

Changes that are potentially catastrophic and anthropogenic are occurring in land, water and air around us. Education today needs to respond to these changes. The Environmental Sciences program is an across-the-curriculum program and is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in the sciences, social sciences and humanities; to build and develop skills in a variety of disciplines; to promote participation in experimental learning projects and to help students prepare for active participation in local and global environmental communications.

Program Overview

The Bachelor’s programme with a Major in Geography is a four year, eight term programme. Geography’s integrating characteristics make the subject unique among the various disciplines. Students will be given an in-depth knowledge of not only the basic subject, such as physical geography, regional geography, practical, human geography, biosphere and field work, but also the aspect of themes including environmental management, geographic techniques and G.I.S., which deals with the methods of data capture and sources of data.

Statistics has wide applications in every field of enquiry. Statistical research in various fields has strong implications for policy-formulation and decision making. In today’s world of data and information, the importance of Statistics cannot be overemphasized.

The B.Sc. Statistics Major program equips the students for numerous job opportunities. Exposure to various areas of Applied Statistics will equip the students with a broad range of knowledge and skills that will enable them to render their services in various sectors of national development. They can go into the teaching profession. They can be employed in governmental organizations such as the Federal and Provincial Bureaus of Statistics, as well as the population and Agriculture Census Organizations. Also, they may work in research organizations such as the Social Sciences Research Center (Punjab University, Lahore).
